On the foundations of the historic Leibniz house, a unique hospitality concept – the Brauhaus Ernst August – was opened in 1986. Traditional values are bound to contemporary cuisine here, in a special way. With more than 300,000 visitors and up to 600,000 litres brewed every year, the brewery house has developed into one of the most successful beer concepts in northern Germany and has been the model for or inspired many subsequent brewhouses around the world.
Our family brewery set itself the goal – as every brewery does initially – only to market in the region. In this way, preservatives can be dispensed with and the specialty beers that are brewed are of an incomparable freshness, and fullness of flavour. In addition, we decided as far back as 1995 to brew only in accordance with organic guidelines.
In 1995, the brewery and the dining area were enlarged, and the brew pub, balcony and Brauhaus Club (Brewhouse Club), which were capable of being operated separately, were created. In 2006 the ‘Bistro am Brauhaus’ was built, a felicitous blend of café, bistro and lounge.
